Question 1 what happens to a dream deferred
when you defer a dream you set it to the side and put it off. you act like you never had it and procrastinate accomplishing it. Its just like putting something boring off like watching soccer, no one here really likes it, so we just don't watch it. the longer you have a dream and don't try to make it come true, the harder it will be to accomplish it.

Question 3
AJHS
First let me restate what the question is actually asking. The question is asking do you need differences to carry on in life. Personally I believe it is true. For what is life without diversity? None of your friends are the same. Your family has their own characteristics. Nobody wants to live in a world that is black and white, because some people are greys.

Dreams can help us sustain out future by letting us know what we want to do. If you don't dream, you don't know what you like. Dreams are things you want to accomplish in your future. Dreams are an important factor to your future.

I believe that a dream deferred is a dream that isn't meant to be. Deferred means to put off or away. I believe that if we put a dream off it was not going to be a life changing event. Also, a dream might just back fire on you. "Or does it explode?"

1. What happens to a dream deferred?
"Does it dry up?" this is asking if it gets old, which it usually does. "Or fester like a sore?" asks if after you set it to side for a while, does it become less wanted. "Does it stink like rotten meat?" Is asking if you don't treat it correctly and keep it in your mind, it may be spoiled. Finally, "Or does it explode?" Asks if it just goes away and isn't reachable anymore. I think the last line explains "what happens to a dream deferred?" the best. This line describes it the best, because it explains that if you set a dream to the side for too long it will be nearly impossible or even impossible to reach.

question 2:
our dreams can help us build a sustainable future because you get this image in your head which helps you get the "full view". when I dream I dream of things that I want to be when I grow up and things that I want to do when I am older. a dream can be ideas that you have in mind or things that you have already done in your lifetime. in my dreams, I dream you memories that have already happened, or things that I want to happen in my life.

Question 2: Our dreams help us to build a sustainable future by placing a goal. Some people dream to become doctors, lawyers, or chefs. What they do to get to fulfill that dream determines whether or not it happen. The things that they do right now inevitably have an affect on their future. Therefore, having dreams makes your dreams sustainable because it paves the road for your future.

Dreams DO help shape our future. Here is the equation for a successful future: Talent+Dream+Practice. It's never too early to have a big dream! It doesn't matter what your dream is, all that matters is that you have the willpower to achieve it. Also, if your dream is to be rich no matter what, that's a bad dream. You should choose the job because you enjoy it not because it pays the highest. :)

Number #2:
Our dreams can help you build a sustainable future, because if you really want a job you have to work for it. You won't quit or give up, but you'll try harder. If you start dreaming at an early age, you may fulfill it. You should never think low of yourself, and dream high, so you can actually be amazed of how hard you worked to fulfill your dream job. For instance, if you are a jock, and your dream job was to become a author. Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you can't do it. If it is your dream go for it, and then in a few years when you are an author, laugh at the people who doubted you.

Question #1
Discovery M School
A dream deferred can be a good thing and a bad thing. It’s bad because you could forget about that dream. That dream could turn into a book one day and make you a lot of money! There is a saying, “Dreams come true”, and some of them do come true. For example, I had a dream where I got ice cream and then the next day I got ice cream. That could've been a coincidence, but I say it counts. If you forget about the dream or postpone it, then you could never work towards that dream so it can come true.
If you have a dream and it is deferred, it could be a good thing. The dream that you had could distract you. It could distract you from your job, school work, etc. Then being distracted by that dream could get you fired. It could get you bad grades in school. Setting dreams aside seems like the right thing to do sometimes.

2) How can our dreams help us build a sustainable future?
"It takes a dream to get started, desire to get going, and determination to finish." -Eddie Harris Jr.
I believe that dreams are the stepping stones to achievement. Without the ability to think "I can", there is no thought of "I should", and therefore no looking back and feeling "I have". Dreams show us what is possible, and sometimes, what we WANT to be possible. The latter of the options is, to me, more important because these show the human spirit (and it can be argued that they also reveal the American dream). For example, take any Olympian, in any sport, at any time in history, and you will see that they live through each day's practice; each day's triumph because of a better time; each day's sorrow at a missed step; each day's failures and successes define who they are. But most of all, they live through the desire of winning; of a dream that may just come true if they work hard enough. And this is the American Spirit, which stems from a dream, an idea, and a concept of faith. That is what a dream is: one, extraordinarily unimaginable wish that has become firmly reinforced into one's reality. To fully answer the question, a dream leads to a sustainable future because of everything stated above. My definition of "sustainable future" is one where you can look back and think "I'm glad that I did this, I gave it everything I could, and that in itself is a dream that I have reached."

When dreams are deffered are they really put to the side or do they vanish ? Have you ever had homework or chores that you know you need to do but you never get around to it? I make this mistake all the time. This is what happens to deams that are deffered. You never know how much time you have left so when you set a goal or dream accomplish them as soon as possible.

Question 4 : Nature has a dramatic affect on our lives in today's society. Nature has a powerful grasp on us because it can affect our moods and sometimes the way our day goes along down the road. For instance, if it happened to be warm and sunny with blue skies it could give most people the idea that today is going to be a great and happy day. But, on the other hand if it was raining with dark or gloomy skies outside people will look like the do not want to be outside and have a mean and moody attitude which good give a very bad vibe to other people. In conclusion, nature has a powerful grasp on people because it could show what mood you are in, show how your day is going to turn out based on what mood you are in, and last it will give people a good and bad vibe when you bring the effects of nature's grasp to different kinds of people.

Question 2:
Our dream can create ideas and hope of what we want to become. For instance I have dreams of me becoming a professional athlete when I grow up. Those dreams were great it made me want to become a football player. It made me committed to football and made me perform better. Dreams are effective.

Question #3
I think that the need for diversity in life depends on your personality. For example, my brother is perfectly content with doing the same thing everyday for the rest of his life. He does not like letting new things into his life or buying new things. On the other hand, I love new things. I like to do different things everyday, and I want for my life to be diverse. I get bored with some things easily and I replace them as soon as I. If you are the type to be content, you might not need diversity. If you always want to do different things, you will need diversity.

When I think about how much power nature has I think about how i'm breathing and how I can get up and move everyday. When I read this question I took a deep breath and said nature has all the power in the world. It can make you sleepy on a tired day or It can scare you so you don’t want to go to sleep when there are tornados. Nature is all around us we are all natures child. Thats where the term Mother Nature comes from. Thats why when you go on a camping trip and you see something nature your breath gets taken right out of you because nature has the power to do that.

Question 1:
I found it odd that the first question was directly associated with the poem. The question is answered through something alike to the Socratic method. It leaves the reader wondering whether the speaker himself/herself knew the answer to that which he/she was asking. So what happens to a dream deferred? To me, a dream deferred never truly leaves. It stays in the back of the mind, in the section housing all the "What ifs-". You never know what could have happened if you had followed the path you dreamed about. The mind tries to be rational, but the heart doesn't always follows. While the mind knows that what you wished to pursue isn't always reliable, the heart yearns for it even more when it is ignored. There are also dreams, however, that are unable to be completed because it entertains that which is not acquirable. Those are the worst. They leave a hole in the heart. Time passes, not everything heals.

Question #1.
Deferring a dream can be caused by many things and can lead to multiple outcomes. I think it all depends on the type of dream. Lets say you were a toddler and your dream was to become a fairy; chances are that you aren't going to grow wings and use pixy dust. So that dream just becomes a fond memory. If your dream actually was possible that would lead to a different outcome. A logical dream that gets deferred always comes out to being one huge ' what if. ' I feel like a deferred dream never really leaves. It just goes back and sits in the corner waiting for the moment for it to pop back up. People say to never put your dreams on hold, because thats where they will stay. A deferred dream is really just that; a dream waiting for its turn to arise back into your train of thought and make an impact, whether it is good or bad.

Question #2: How can our dreams help us build a sustainable future?
Dreams show us pain, pleasure, anger, sadness, happiness, and so much more. They show us things that we aren't even aware about, things that are beyond our control or outlook. Dreams are focused more on negative feelings than positive feelings, and dreams are a recollection of the days events as well as a fortune teller. When the dream has the right outlook and information they tell you things. They make you realize something or make you fearful or excited for something that could happen later in the future. With these kind of dreams, come useful knowledge. When you have a dream of a unpleasant event, you have an experience already for when it could really happen. Like if you had a dream you failed a test, you would be more likely to know how to solve the problem or feel more inclined to prevent the problem if it really happened due to a past experience. In this case, studying would be preventing it and checking your work could be a solution rather than a precautionary measure. When you are able to draw experiences like that to prevent and solve problems, then you are going to prevent and solve those problems a lot better and a lot more often. In conclusion, Dreams can help build a sustainable future by giving us a previous experience or foreshadowing conflicts to help us better prepare for them and better resolve them.

Question #4
Discovery Middle School
If you read most poems, they are usually connected from emotional feelings or physical pain to the world. We describe what we see or feel and compare to that of our environment. Such as nature, time, home, animals, the sky and more. Why do we do this? Compare such emotion to that of nature? I believe it's because of the way we see the world. Like comparing time to a flowing river. Nature has become a large influence in our lives because we either see beauty or destruction. Depending on what emotional happiness or trauma we experience. Such as comparing a heartbreak to a forest on fire. How our hate destroys our love or home. The environment seems to be the home where we get our inspiration to write. To let our emotions flow and inspiration dawn. Nature is one of those places where we look to define ourselves. It has great power over our minds and we can often clear our heads. That could also be why nature is a place where people find peace and happiness. Where might others find a place of horrors and fears. It all depends on the mind. What it sees and dreams. That's why the poem describes a dream deferred either being syrupy sweet or stinking like rotten meat. The way the world is to you, the way it is described, is often a place of power or destruction. Your emotions tend to compare to nature because of how violent or calm they are. Just like mood swings. When you want to take your anger out on the world, you might knock some barriers down. Just like a storm would to trees in nature. Where you might be sad, it would compare to rain continuously falling. Where you are happy and confident, the forest can grow trees. Think of your mind as your own personal forest.

Our dreams can easily help us build a sustanable future. If we want a dream bad enough then we will go and get it. We will do anything if we want it bad enough. By doing so we will make our future about the dream. For example if someone has a dream of becoming a great doctor then they will work hard and make a sustanable future around that dream.

Question #2:
Our dreams help us build a sustainable future by motivating us. Most people don't have dreams of failing in life. We have dreams of succeeding, doing well, and being happy. Having these dreams motivate us to work hard so we can achieve our goals. We want our dreams to come true. They are our motivation to work hard, even when things are tough, and it would be easier to quit. You are going to do everything possible to fulfill your dreams when you want them badly enough. This motivation and hard work will pay off and help build you a sustainable future.

Question #3
I believe we do need diversity to live sustainably. It's like the class discussion for "The Giver". Life is about to experience all the different things in life, and what makes those experiences interesting and worth it is that they are always different from the last one. Also in the case of our dreams, they are all diverse because we all are; some may "explode" while others "stink like rotten meat. We need diversity to live sustainably because we as humans need balance in our lives, and with out it we would just topple off the scale.

Question 1.
Dreams that are deferred stay. Many things happen to them but they never really leave, they are just forgotten. What does it mean for a dream to be deferred? I think it means it is put away or stored in the back of your thoughts maybe for future references or maybe not. How it is placed to the side or thrown away and forgotten is the metaphorical examples shown in the poem above.

Dreams are visions of the future. They help us to imagine those things that may seem impossible. Dreams, when turned into goals, become a reality that can be achieved through hard work, dedication, and discipline. Dreams are a necessary part of life because they cause us to think beyond what is normally expected. We must all have goals to keep us on the right track for a sustainable future.

2.) Without dreams, nothing would be possible. I look at life like a house. If you have no blueprints for a house, you don't know what to do with the house. Nature has a lot of power in our life because it can effect the way we feel. Like if it's raining outside we may be sad, but if it's warm and sunny we may be happy. Nature has lots of power too because when it's storming it can make us feel scared or make us during a storm. Nature has lots of power too in our life because when it storms outside it may nock trees downs and blow houses or buildings down, this can effect our feelings because it can make us worried that the storm may nock our house down, blow a building around us down, or cause damage too our house. Nature has power on our feelings because it can change the way we feel very quickly and make something the good go bad or something bad turn good.

I think that the line that says take all your winnings and put it on to one game of pitch and toss is the hardest to live by. This basically says that you have to be able to lose everything and still be ok with that. I do not think that I could do that. What power does nature have in our lives?
Nature is very powerful in human life, as we have lots of interaction with it. Some people devote their lives to nature, some make religions out of nature. Without nature, humanity wouldn't be as good as a whole, not only physically, but spiritually. We wouldn't be outside, we wouldn't have survived in the early times. We wouldn't have accomplished as much without nature today.

I do not think that people should cling fiercely to their lives. I think they should die calmly. I would rather die in my sleep than be screaming and kicking right before I die. “After all to the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.” -Albus Dumbledore
I don't agree with the author on how death should be handled. One of my favorite quotes comes from the great fictional Albus Dumbledore. Death is unexpected/unknown which is why many people fear it. If you focus on what could happen with optimism, it becomes fascinating with unlimited possibilities. You shouldn't fight death unless you have a reason for it. Being afraid is not a good excuse. I find that the more you fight something, the more likely it will happen. Death is a sad departing, but hopefully their is reunion with our loved ones.

#1 What happens to a dream deferred?
I don't believe a dream deferred ever really goes away. A dream can make you feel different things at different times in your life. A dream motivates you to become what you need to be to fulfill your dream. A dream can stay in the back of your mind for years, until one day you are ready to make it come true. That is just like the poem says, an explosion when it finally happens.
